Who is C.P.Bryan?
(A short biography by C.P.Bryan)

C.P.Bryan is a Music Recording Enthusiast!
I first began recording music while in high school. My friends and I had what we might have called a "punk" bank (but the music we made didn't sound anything like punk music). I used my father's 2-track reel-to reel tape deck so that we could record the bass, drums and guitar on the first track and then do vocal and effects overdubs on the second track. The final mixdown would be to cassette, which allowed for E.Q. and further effects processing. After graduating from high school, I got my first 4-track cassette recorder and the reel-to-reel was relegated to the storage room. From the late 80's to early 90's, I was living the bohemian lifestyle in Vancouver, Canada, and collaborating on music projects and performance art with other like-minded folks. I released a number of cassette-only albums which I would send to college radio stations and small independent magazines. I also did some recording and production for other artists, but never made enough money to pursue a full-time career in music. Eventually I made the leap to using computer-based music sequencing and sound editing software. I had not been interested in computer science courses in highschool. It was only when I discovered MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) that I was ready to jump on the computer bandwagon. With a computer workstation replacing the 4-track tape deck, I recorded and released numerous electronic soundscapes, dance grooves and audio collages well into the late 1990's. During this time period, I used a variety of artist names (including "Glitch", "FSMXL", "Space Experiments" and "Protoflake" to name a few). As the Information Stupor Highway became ubiquitous, I began to get interested in coding web pages to share my music.

C.P.Bryan is a Software Developer.
Since randomly discovering the novels of William S. Burroughs in the public library, I had been using a creative writing technique known as "cut-up".The process currently described as the "cut-up" technique is said to have originated at the beginning of the 20th century when Tristan Tzara, poet and co-founder of Dadaism randomly pulled words out of a hat to compose an on-the-spot automatic poem. The process of randomly rearranging words within sentences or letters within words became part of Dada and Surrealist theory. Having learned some basic coding in the process of building websites, I was inspired to try to create my own program to automate the cut-up process. This began a phase of intense focus on coding and enrollment in a software development program in college. The New Millenium: By the year 2000 I had a full-time job as a computer programmer and had to limit the time spent on my more artistic and creative pursuits. But I kept recording and amassing a large archive of music. It wasn't until later on in the new millenium that I was able to rekindle my interests in experimental writing, postmodern digital art and music composition, as part of the process of starting my own business. Two of the main projects of this new startup included a revamped commercial release of Cut'n'Mix and the launch of my own online royalty free music service for film and video producers called freesoundtrackmusic.com. In 2015, I produced an album of experimental electronic jazz titled Stargazer Jazz. Since 2020, I have mostly retired from the IT Industry and have been spending more time writing, traveling and producing music and videos.
