Rorschach Word Pool
Rorschach Word Pool is derived from the old Rorschach Ink Blot test used in psychoanalysis. Instead of using a card with random smears of ink, the "subject" observes a random selection of words. The subject (or rather the writer) then reorders and morphs each word so that the resulting text has meaning. Additional connective or supportive words can be added.(For example, words like "the","is","I","at" can be used liberally). But the goal is to add as few new words as possible. Tenses can be changed and words restructured (as long as the root remains). The optimal conclusion to this exercise sees all words from the random pool used in a new text which makes sense. This is a difficult goal, and most often there is no possible way to arrange all of the random words into something meanignful. The real value of this process is that in trying to establish some meaningful text, the participant could expose some tendencies to want to organize things according to pre-existing, but previously hidden narratives. The following is an example constructed from the first pool of random words generated by clicking
